Dubai has played host to a spate of Asia-inspired openings recently, each with their own distinct vibe and crowd. Dubai Marina’s Cargo, Downtown’s Toko, Palm Jumeirah’s Lotus Lounge, Oud Metha’s Chinawhite… and now Shanghai 30 is the latest to bolster the trend – and it by no means lacks ambition. This bar is on a very particular mission: to transport patrons to 1930s Shanghai, complete with Chinese tea-infused mixed drinks and… jellyfish (really). Not quite atmospheric enough to be the ultimate destination for a night out, but it’s well worth investigating.
