Casa de Tapas is just one half of a two-tier Spanish concept located above The Boardwalk at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. Upstairs is rooftop lounge bar Cielo and downstairs, and inside, is the tapas bar and eatery Casa de Tapas. While this is in fact fully in keeping with the Spanish concept of tapas dining, the first impression of Casa de Tapas is very much that of a bar food dining experience rather than a restaurant. Service varies here; it is certainly swift and efficient enough, though it lacks initiative and friendliness. When it comes to the food, there’s some great authenticity in the tapas selection with creative twists such as black ink mayonnaise with deep fried baby squid, or the pleasingly local touch of date syrup with fried aubergine. If you crave a dose of Spanish authenticity, a trip to Casa de Tapas won’t feel a million miles away from going out for tapas in Madrid.
